bags with basic food With the donated money which we receive from Germany and from abroad the Romanian members buy basic food and necessary items for the very poor. Orthodox congregations and monasteries also receive aid from Jonas. The ecumenical theme is one of our heart-felt ideas.

The father Nicolae is responsible for the upbringing of 6 children. Three years ago Jonas members heard that the family was in great need. Generous donations were given by Jonas friends abroad and a cow with calf was bought for the family. The following year their old horse which had worked so hard and had been so loyal to the family for many years, and is now staying as an "oldie" with the family, was replaced by a young and strong horse. During the past three years the situation of the family has positively changed. The Jonas Society supports the family monthly with basic food like bread, flour, sugar and oil. Nicolae and his children are very grateful for the help which they have received. The cow has born another calf in the meantime!
The single father of five children was desperate – his only calf had died. A donor helped- „Milka“ and her calf were bought with veterinary documents at a Romanian cattle market. This strong white horse has replaced the old brown one, which had worked loyally on the farm for many years and is now put out to grass on the farm. Now the harvest for the winter can be brought home by cart and necesssary work on the fields can be accomplished without difficulty.
It was a great surprise for the group when they saw the donated Ford Transit driving onto the Jonas premises. The car has besides 8 seats a ramp and fastenings for 4 wheel chairs. The car is a great help to transport the disabled youngsters to Floresti. We thank all donors heartily!
